How We Got Here
A cooking service born from restaurant burnout and a belief that good food shouldn't require a culinary degree.
We started Spritz Glint in 2019 after a combined fifteen years working in professional kitchens across London, Manchester, and Edinburgh.
The restaurant industry teaches you a lot about efficiency, precision, and working under pressure. It also teaches you that 70-hour weeks and shouting aren't actually necessary to make good food. We wanted to apply the skills without the chaos.
What surprised us most when we started offering private chef services and cooking classes was how many people felt intimidated by their own kitchens. Not because they lacked intelligence or ability, but because cooking had been framed as either mindless convenience or aspirational perfectionism, with very little in between.
What We Believe
Cooking is a learnable skill, not a talent you're born with. Some people have better taste memory or knife skills, sure. But the fundamentals—understanding heat, seasoning, timing—can be taught to anyone willing to pay attention.
"The best cooks aren't the ones with the most natural talent. They're the ones who learned from their mistakes instead of getting discouraged by them."
We also believe that cooking at home shouldn't mean sacrificing quality or settling for boring meals. With decent technique and good ingredients, you can make restaurant-quality food in a fraction of the time and at a fraction of the cost.
Finally, we believe in teaching principles over recipes. Anyone can follow a recipe. Understanding why you're doing each step, and what happens if you change it, makes you an actual cook.
The Team
We're deliberately small. Three chefs who handle all client work personally, plus one person managing logistics and bookings. No junior staff, no outsourcing. When you book with us, you're getting someone with at least a decade of professional experience.
Our backgrounds vary. One of us trained classically at Le Cordon Bleu, another came up through Michelin-starred kitchens, and the third spent years in high-volume catering operations. Between us, we've worked every station, cooked every cuisine, and made every mistake at least twice.
That diversity means we can adapt to different cooking styles, dietary needs, and skill levels without forcing everyone into the same approach.
Why Spritz Glint?
The name comes from an inside joke about restaurant terminology that spiraled into an actual business name. Spritz refers to the quick spray of liquid that brings a sauce together. Glint is the shine you see on properly cooked proteins.
Both are small details that separate decent food from great food. Both are things most people never notice consciously, but always notice subconsciously. That's what we focus on: the details that make food better without being showy about it.
Where We Work
We're based in London but cover most of the South East, including Surrey, Kent, Essex, and parts of Hertfordshire. For longer-term engagements like weekly meal prep or recurring classes, we occasionally travel further.
Classes and private chef services happen in your kitchen when possible. It's more convenient for you, and we've found people learn better in the space they'll actually be cooking in. For group classes, we sometimes use a shared commercial kitchen in Shoreditch.
Working With Us
We keep things straightforward. You tell us what you need, we propose a plan, and if it makes sense for both of us, we move forward. Payment is due before the service, invoiced via email, with standard UK banking details provided.
Cancellations with at least 48 hours notice receive a full refund. Less than that, we charge 50% to cover ingredients and scheduling. No-shows are charged in full. This isn't about being rigid; it's about respecting everyone's time and the prep work that goes into each booking.
We don't do contracts for single sessions. For ongoing arrangements like weekly meal prep or corporate catering partnerships, we use a simple one-page agreement that covers scheduling, payment, and expectations.
